Mark was born and raised in Twin Falls, Idaho where he grew up working on a family farm. Mark has served in the Army for 28 years, and in Special Forces for 23 years. He first enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1987 as a Russian Linguist; Mark was also the first Army Special Forces Officer to attend and graduate the Air Force’s premier strategy school (SASS). He was also the First Army Special Forces officer to be selected for a RAND Arroyo Fellowship. He has served as the Senior Special Operations Advisor for MG James Mattis, as well as an advisor for Col H.R. McMasters, participating in both the Assault of Fallujah and Tal Afar, Iraq. Mark is also a family man, and enjoys spending time with his wife Ani, and two children Hunter and Jayden.
