Approaching Technology as an Inter-dependent Piece of the Puzzle

At Improve Group we don’t look at technology in a vacuum, rather we see a company much like a puzzle with the primary pieces being the space, people and technology. Consequently, tech is just one interdependent piece in the puzzle which must perfectly fit together to make an aligned whole.

We start our client process using a proven methodology that we call Radical Alignment. The purpose of this method is to guide our customers in identifying, clarifying and communicating their business’s goals and the impact that achieving those goals will make for their customers and for their business. We call this overarching vision of success a company’s “Ideal State.” We have an obsessive focus on the Ideal State because we’ve seen, time and again, how companies achieve exponentially better results by connecting these key “puzzle pieces” to achieve optimal results.

Once the Ideal State is established, we examine every attribute of the organization to determine which are aligned to it and which are not. This drives the creation of the customer’s Radically Aligned Roadmap. This roadmap considers all parts of the puzzle: people, space, and technology. A solution is only implemented if it drives the company on the road towards its Ideal State.

Since we look at tech from an alignment perspective, we approach our needs assessment process differently than most. We view our client’s Ideal State holistically and implement technology solutions that support their roadmap. This holistic view of the ideal state means that technology decisions are made to drive complete business solutions. This may involve making an intelligent decision about which off-the-shelf technology to buy, what custom solution to build, or a combination of both.

For example, let’s look at Asset Management. Some off-the-shelf solutions we work with in asset management technology track everything from surgical equipment to vehicles to weapons – and include: SmarTrak, Filetrail, KeyTrak, and other RFID and GPS tracking systems.

For example, let’s look at Asset Management. Some off-the-shelf solutions we work with in asset management technology track everything from surgical equipment to vehicles to weapons – and include: SmarTrak, Filetrail, KeyTrak, and other RFID and GPS tracking systems.

Speed Issue is an example of a fully custom solution we created to support efficient equipment distribution for Central Issue Facilities at Ft. Carson, Colorado and Ft. Bliss, Texas. We worked with key leaders to understand their challenges and requirements then designed the comprehensive system that included everything from the high efficiency shelving solutions to software-based queuing mechanisms and inventory management.

Because we understand the big picture, we are adept at identifying technology to fill the gaps that off-the-shelf solutions can’t quite  fill. An invaluable outcome of our Radical Alignment process is the identification of critical business intelligence such as: logistics, inventory, maintenance, and training. Once these Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are defined, we architect and implement a KPI system to mine information from your existing data systems to generate highly visible, actionable dashboards.

We also fit our technology solutions into the other “puzzle pieces” of an organization in a more literal way. For example, we align the space piece with the tech piece by using DIRTT tech walls, which embed audio visual control systems, conferencing systems or even virtual reality rooms into a space.
